Co-Curricular Activities

Youth Corps Singapore (Special Needs Cluster Subcommittee Member)

As a Special Needs Cluster Subcommittee Member at Youth Corps Singapore, I co-planned and delivered an 8-month wellness initiative for approximately 15 clients with special needs alongside a four-member team, culminating in a 4-day programme focused on nutrition and exercise through interactive and meaningful activities with 1-to-1 support from volunteer befrienders.

From developing programme activities and participant materials to coordinating logistics and preparing volunteer befrienders, I took an active role in bringing the initiative from planning to execution. I also stepped forward as an emcee and facilitator, confidently engaging participants and adapting to different needs and situations to create an inclusive, welcoming and engaging experience.

Through this experience, I strengthened my leadership, teamwork, communication, creative problem-solving, critical thinking and adaptability, while learning how thoughtful planning, empathy and collaboration can create meaningful experiences tailored to the needs of others.

National Youth Council SME Project

Recognised for commitment and leadership as a student leader in the TEE-Up Journey: NYC SME Project, collaborating with industry partners and SMEs ( British Hainan Heritage Restaurant and Dandelion Consulting ) to gain real-world business exposure and professional skills. A 4-month industry project where I worked together with a group of student leaders to create explainer videos to help SMEs adopt Generative AI, collaborating with real businesses and national partners in partnership with IMDA, Prudential Assurance Company Singapore, National Youth Council Singapore and Republic Polytechnic to translate complex AI concepts into clear and engaging content for SMEs. Throughout this journey, one of my roles was to film behind-the-scenes footage. I learned how to film Soundbites and B-roll, as well as direct, film and work together with my team. Additionally, I learned the value of adaptability, teamwork, communication and feedback in creating content. Hence, this project taught me useful and meaningful skills and I gained industry experience as well.

Singapore Timber Association Competition ( Top 10 Teams )

In 2025, I led a three-member team in the Singapore Timber Association (STA) Timber Competition, where we designed and built furniture using reclaimed local wood in collaboration with Ng Guan Seng Woodworking Company. Over five months, I coordinated responsibilities, guided design decisions and led the team through a major redesign when our initial concept proved too complex to manufacture within the available time and resources. Through teamwork, adaptability and perseverance, we successfully completed our final product, placed among the Top 10 teams, progressed to the semi-finals and received a Merit Award. This experience strengthened my leadership, problem-solving and design thinking skills, while giving me hands-on experience in woodworking, bandsaw operation, cutting, sanding and wood finishing.

PolyFinTech Hackathon ( Top 10 Teams )

Over six months, I collaborated with a six-member team to address Prudential’s challenge of making Integrated Shield Plans in Singapore easier for everyday users to understand. We designed PruClarity, an app that simplifies complex insurance information through a personalised journey based on different life stages, Costify for clearer cost and coverage comparisons, and Termify for explaining insurance jargon in simple terms. I contributed to the user research and Figma prototyping, translating research insights into a clearer and more accessible user experience. Competing against teams from polytechnics across Singapore, we progressed to the semi-finals and placed among the Top 10 teams. This experience strengthened my ability to simplify complex information, design around real user needs and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Mission X Youth Corps Singapore

I participated in the Mission X Youth Corps Singapore 3-day programme, a leadership development experience centred on service, responsibility and community impact. The programme emphasised values-driven leadership, teaching me that effective leaders lead by example, listen actively and prioritise the well-being of their team. Through group challenges and community-focused activities, I learned how to step up when needed, support others and make decisions that benefit the team rather than the individual. The experience strengthened my confidence in taking initiative, communicating clearly and resolving challenges collaboratively. It also reinforced the importance of giving back to the community as a leader, shaping me into a more empathetic, accountable and team-oriented individual.

Republic Polytechnic Rapport Programme ( Member )

As part of Republic Polytechnic’s Rapport Programme, I collaborated with the media team to brainstorm concepts, refine narratives and maintain consistent branding across all published content. I contributed to publicity materials for Open House, including Instagram Stories, Reels, TikTok videos and creative formats such as prank-style and engaging content. Through this experience, I built confidence both in front and behind the camera, taking on roles in filming, editing and content creation. Working closely with the team strengthened my ability to communicate ideas clearly, adapt creatively and produce engaging social media content for Republic Polytechnic’s Instagram and TikTok platforms.

Republic Polytechnic Student Council ( Member )

As a member of Republic Polytechnic Student Council branding department, I did publicity for major school events by creating engaging content for student council's Instagram, TikTok and Telegram socials. I filmed, recorded and edited videos using CapCut, conducted interviews and vox pops to produce relatable and engaging content. I also designed posters and Instagram Stories using Canva and Adobe Express to promote initiatives such as RP Purple Parade, Open House, Orientation Programme, and festive campaigns including Christmas and Chinese New Year. Through this role, I strengthened my skills in visual storytelling, editing, designing, social media strategy and content creation while working collaboratively with my peers to maintain consistent and impactful communication across platforms. Additionally, I learned to step out of my comfort zone, grew more confident both on and off camera, developed leadership skills, collaborative skills, branding skills and became a more sociable and outspoken individual.

Republic Polytechnic Service Learning ( Member )

As a member of Republic Polytechnic’s Service Learning CCA, I participated in volunteering initiatives that allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the community while developing strong personal values. The experience emphasised empathy, social responsibility and respect for diverse perspectives, encouraging me to understand community needs beyond my own experiences. Working alongside with my peers, I learned the importance of teamwork, accountability and clear communication when serving others. Service Learning also helped me reflect on the impact of small actions, reinforcing my commitment to giving back and becoming a more socially conscious and responsible individual.
